Bible Versions?

Just out of curiousity, what Bible versions are you planning on reading this year? I read through the OT with the traditional NIV this past year, and I plan to read a thought-for-thought version like the New Living in 2009. What are you planning to read?

I'm really thinking about going back to the NIV as well. I typically use the MKJV, but the NIV flows a bit better. At least one of us needs to use a more 'precise' translation, like a KJV or derivation of it, just so we can get some discussion in about the differences. If nobody wants to, I can stick with the MKJV for that reason.

Most likely, the translation I use will vary between NASB, NKJV, and NIV (depending on where and when I read). NASB and NKJV will be the two I read from the most.

Since Stevie J wants to try the NIV, I'll commit to the KJV. In truth, KJV is what I have used for the past several years and is one I just feel most comfortable with anyway.

Hey guys I'm in! I'm committing to the KJV. I picked up a Thompson Chain Reference Bible a couple months back and have loved using it. I just need this to really goad me and keep me going on my daily readings. I'm enjoying the poetry of KJV, even though NIV no question flows better. Although, time permitting, I'll also supplement with double reading in The Message.
